Task 10 – Review

When I first began this assignment I created a grant chart. This helped me know when to begin an finish each task however my schedule change throughout the assignments which you can see in my grant charts. In the grantt charts you can see that my schedule mainly changed with task 6 because I originally wanted to start my vector production on 20.11.15 however in my final grantt chart I moved the task to the 24th because I didn't stick to my original grantt chart.  I think this is my biggest weakness because I am not happy with my vector production because I wanted to spend more time on each sprite however because I didn't stick to my grantt chart that wasn't possible to do. Although I do think that knowing my priority is one of my strong points in the assignment. For example I was behind my schedule but I worked longer and harder on a task and ended up being back on schedule with task 8, 9 and 10.
In task 2 I did a game evaluation of the game mekka hornet i believe that this is up to standards and achieved the aim of the assignment. Although I would approve on my vector production and vector presentation because I believe It could be improved with more detail for example In my player vector image I would change her position and the face/head. I think my best tasks are task 1,2,3,4 and 9 because I completed the tasks on time and I think the work is up to standards because of the amount of information/Work I provided. Although I would improve on some pixel images such as some of the small sprites e.g burn, Turret etc.

Task 09 – Pixel Presentation

Task 08 – Pixel Production

Boss pixel progression
To begin with my boss pixel I began by creating an outline off my boss player. I put the outline to a darker gray but then used a different layer with a lighter gray to fill in my boss. I wanted two different shades to give the character more dimension

Next I wanted to give more detail to the 'face' of my boss. I wanted the same look as my vector image of the boss so I used the same drawing off my boss and traced over the eye. I first started the eye by doing the black 'eyeball' although I did go around the edges with a more lighter gray to make the eye look like it has a tear duct/outline of the eye. Afterwards I drew an eyeball using the same colors as in my vector image. I gave the eyeball more detail by using different shades of red and grays.

Once my eyeball and iris was complete I put in the wires within the black eyeball I did this by using a size 1 pixel and randomly drawing red, green and blue lines through out the eye ball. I then copied that layer and placed it next to the the wire to give it a double effect.

After I did the body I did a pixel rectangle but instead of doing a full rectangle I did half of it then copied and flipped the laser to create a symmetrical rectangle which will fit on to the body. I then used different shades of gray to fill in the rectangle.  Next I added a whole into the rectangle and added more wires into the whole and based 1 pixel squares around the outline of the square so they look like screws on the robot.

Finally I drew a square for a section of the arm and then copied the square several times to create an arm and hands  for either side of the robot. I used several different shades of gray to make the arms look more attracting and completed.

The last step was adding a belt, legs and feet by using several rectangles and then used a darker gray to use for the outline. I added two holes on his legs and added red, blue and green wires into the holes.

Player Pixel Sprite

I first began my player by creating the space ship which my player will be sat on. I began this by using one layer for my outline which was a slightly darker gray than the base of the space ship. After I filled in with the space ship with the lighter gray. At the bottom of the space ship there is a little platform, to make it more noticeable that this platform is behind the space ship I made the platform a different gray than the original space ship.

My next step was outlining and filling in my player which I wanted sat on the spaceship/hover bored. Again I used a darker colour for my outline to give the sprite more dimension.

Next I added little wings on the left and right side of the platform. I also then added a lighter gray around the platform to give the player and the platform a more detail effect. I also added lights to make the space ship look more complete.

Once I was happy with the look of the space ship and the player I copied the layers and created the exact same sprite on the opposite side of the template. I did this so I could easily change the colors on the lights for example on the left the player has white lights and on the left side the sprite has light blue lights. I did this to give it more on an animated effect.

Space ship (Bug 2)

I started Bug 2 by lining the bottom of the space ship I then added red strips onto the bottom and added a bit more to the space ship for example the glass/window for the spaceship where the alien can look out off. I decided to do the lights as gray and red because the boss is gray and red so i wanted to stick to the same theme. Afterwards I drew in the alien by drawing half of the layer copying and flipping the layer to make sure my alien has a symmetrical head.  Once done I added my final detail to the space ship for example copying the space ship and switching the lights around to create a animation. I also created a layer where I colored the glass in white i then adjusted the opacity so it created a more foggy glass effect.

Title Screen f

For the title screen I my first step was creating an ombre style for the background. To do this I basically Created One line of a dark pink and then I created another layer which was the same size but slightly lighter. I gradually did this to the bottom and it created a dark to light transition effect. My next step I did was making the title and the background for the title. I began by creating a white slanted rectangle and then color the outline in a gray. Using a slightly darker gray I then began drawing blocks for the letters also using a more darker gray to give the text a shadow effect making it look more 3D.
Once finished I used my boss pixel and placed it slanted in the corner, i then created a behind layer and colored it yellow so It gave it a glow effect which made it look more interesting and attracting. Once finished I added the final details such as the controls and colored Dots.
