Task 06 – Vector Production

Boss Character

I first began by opening an image of a quick drawing of my boss into Photoshop. I then adjusted the image so its vertical, straight and the drawing is easy to see.

After I was happy with my image i opened it up into illustrator. I did this so I can use my drawing as a template I then simply drew vector lines onto another layer above the drawing template to create an outline of my image.

I then filled in the shapes and adjusted the thickness of the lines. I realized that the thicker the lines the more 'cartoon look' my boss character had. I wanted to go for a ray and black theme but I decided not to stick to all of the templates design e.g I decided to change the features off the face. Here are some of the examples below on how I change the appearance of my boss.

Main character (Player)

I drew my player on a piece of paper which i then scanned in and opened it up on Photoshop. Afterwards I drew out the outline digitally on illustrator by using the pen tool. I used several layers to organize my layers and make the filling within the image much more easier for example the hair was one of the main top layers because it had to be arranged to be above the shoulder and cape layer.

Once the layers were arranged correctly I started to pick the color for the skin. Afterwards I choose all of the layers which includes skin for example the leg, arm, face etc. I did this because I wanted to use the same color for all of the skin layers. Once my skin color was picked I could then fill in the clothing, hair and the crown. I went for a more soft color theme with my player for instance coral and peach because it gives an calming, Nice and fresh look which is the complete opposite than the boss look which i desired to create.

With the face I wanted to go for a 'anime' kind of look. For example I big eyes and a grinning smile although I didn't use my drawing to outline the smile feature on the face and decided to use a complete different look. i did this by opening up the image (To the right) and  tracing over the image just like i originally planed to do with my original drawing. Once I outlined the mouth I deleted the image layer and adjusted the mouth into a more flattering position.

Type logo

I began my type logo by opening up a shape template and then drawing over the template using the pen tool. I then copied the layer creating two identical shapes but I created the back layer of the start to make it more darker than the original star to create a 3D effect by using two shapes.
Afterwards I decided to use the font path tool. This allowed me to create text but in a curved shape.
