The Mekka hornet is a top down shooter game which has a sort of retro and arcade style to the game. It begins with a menu which has a dark red background and On top of the background is a icon of a hornet. The background and the hornet both have a gradual effect to the colour for example the hornet icon is black at the top and it gradually turns Gray towards the bottom. I think this gives the design a bit more dimension and makes it look more interesting than a solid background etc.
There is a layer of text above the hornet saying 'Project Mekka Hornnet'. This is in a Japanese font which I think is effective because a hornet is a Japanese insect. There is a menu explaining how you have to use the arrow keys to more and press any button to begin the game.
The game background has dull colours and isn't very detailed however I personally like how there is big shades of white in the background because this makes the game look like it is above clouds and adds a bit more detail to the background. When you fly forward little yellow sparks come out at the back of the hornet. Even though this is only a little feature i think it adds a lot more detail to the game and the character because it makes the hornet looks like its going faster and looks more robotic. Although i have noticed that the movements off up,down and left to right all move differently compared to each other. For example The up and down movements is a lot more slower than the left to right movements. Although I do think this is purposely meant to happen within the game and it isn't a lack. Because it adds more of a characteristic to the character for instance in real life insects are more cation about moving forward than moving left to right. This also makes the player think about their movement a lot more for example going left to right is much more faster than going up and down so it might be easier to move left/right to escape the character .

There are two types of enemy's in the game (excluding the boss)
The first enemy which is first introduced Look like 'robotic flies'. The robotic flies are a dull dark green colour and can shoot yellow bullets at the player. The hornet is able to defend it self and shoot enemy's, once the enemy has been defeated they squirt out green gue and leave small blue coins which are each worth one score. These enemy's are really fast and are able to move fast in all directions unlike the hornet. This makes it more difficult to kill these enemy's although if these enemy's fly past you they will keep on moving. In some areas of the game there is small platforms which you can see in the pictures to the right. However the platforms don't give any use to the player for example the hornet cant use the platform.

However these platforms are use full for the next enemy which is introduced. These enemy's are little magnets which are generated by hives. The magnets which are generated from the hives follow the character around the screen unlike the first enemy which leaves the player once it has passed. Also there isn't just one magnet which is generated there is dozens of magnets generated at once to attack the player. I think this is effective because it makes both enemy's have a big difference in movements and techniques to attack the player. The magnet and the hives both have the same dark green colour which the robotic flys have. I think the colour theme to the enemy's and characters etc are quite dull and could do with different colours to make the game look more interesting although this colour theme does make the game look more retro and old.

There is a gem which the hornet is able to collect to make the health go back a healthy green health bar this means that the health has been restored. The icon looks like a small red gem which is the same colour to the player. I think it is necessary to have extra health available in this game because the defeating the actuall enemy is much harder than defeating the boss so it is necessary to have extra life because it will be near to impossible to get past the level without.
The boss looks like a giant flee which is usually fund on animals such as dogs and cats. of course the flee is still gonna have the same robotic look to the character as well as the Dark green colour both enemy's have. I personally don't like how all the other characters apart from the player all have a dark green theme because it gets more and more interesting as you see it. I would prefer a game with more colour however some others players might like how the game has one big colour theme and looks more old and retro.
The flee has a small body and a big body just like a real flee insect does. On the back off the flee is 3 slots which look like eyes however when the green slots are open they shoot missiles at the player which follow you around the screen just like the magnet enemy's does. This makes it more difficult to escape the bosses shots however you are able to shoot back at the missiles and destroy them before they hit you I like this because it makes it easier for the player to escape the boss although overall i do think the boss is to easy to defeat while the enemy's are much more harder. When the slots on the body of the flee are open the player has the opportunity to shoot the eye and be able to close each down eye which will eventually destroy the boss after all the three eyes have been defeated. The slots on the eyes don't stay open for a long time so it gives the player a limited time to shoot the eyes. When the eyes on the back of the body are closed it shoots out the same bullets the enemy's do. However the bullets are a lot more faster and there is more limited space for the character to move. After a while the boss will then open its slots back up, shoot missiles and give the player another opportunity to destroy the boss. I like how there is a limited amount of time for the slots to be pen because t makes it a lo more difficult because it makes the player have to survive a lot more longer, making it more of a risk to die.
Overall i think this game does have potential but it does have some faults for example The enemy's being harder to defeat the actual boss or the health bar being to low making it more difficult to get far in the level. So I personally think this game should be free to play on in platforms such as android, iphone or as a online game.
The target audience for this game could be for both male and female although i think the theme of the game is more attracting to males. Because the game has quite dull, dark colours such as Dark greens and Dark reds which isn't really attracting to some females while some males might think the colour makes the game look more like war themed colour (Dark Greens, Blacks etc) However the game is still suitable for both sexes.
The games could be aimed at ages from 14 to 23 because the game has a old retro, arcade feeling/Look which might be attracting to the older age because older ages usually play arcade games more than the more recent generation although this game still has a lot of action e.g shooting involved and it isn't complicated to play.
The background of the audience for instance the area they live in isn't important for this game however the efficiency of the audience does. This game should be sold for free so the Target audience might be to a audience who doesn't have a lot of efficiency because they are still able to play the game but i personally think the game should put a 'ad' in the game to make the game earn more money.
